On June 4, 2021, the “Qingdao Municipal Funeral Home Seminar on Innovative Management and Service Practices” was held at the municipal funeral home. The meeting was attended by 18 participants, including Huang Zhen, Director of the Social Affairs Division of the Qingdao Civil Affairs Bureau; directors of various funeral homes; representatives from several funeral equipment manufacturers; and staff from the association’s secretariat. The seminar was organized by the Social Affairs Division, with the association and the municipal funeral home serving as the co‑organizers.

To implement the “Implementation Plan of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government on Strengthening the Development of Basic Public Service Functions at the Grassroots Level” (Sufa [2018] No. 6), the Yongqiao District Civil Affairs Bureau, under the leadership of the District Party Committee and the District People’s Government, has steadily advanced the construction of public‑type columbariums in towns and townships. Despite overcoming numerous challenges, the site‑selection process is now nearing completion; however, southern townships—represented by Qixian and Yongzhen—have encountered unique regional issues in this regard.

Ecological burial—honoring life! Nanjing pioneers the “Life Crystal Jade” eco‑burial.
On April 2, Nanjing’s first “Life Crystal Jade” eco‑burial method was launched at Yuhua Gongde Park. At the event, Chinese organ donation volunteers Zhao Rujun and Zhang Yefeng were presented with two Life Crystal Jade burial plots.

Over the decades since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, sustained efforts to reform funeral practices—shifting from earth burial to cremation—have yielded remarkable progress, with cremation now having become the dominant form of burial in contemporary society.

In recent years, Guangdong has actively embraced the principles of “green and civilized funeral practices” and “land‑saving, eco‑friendly burial.” Since 2014, the province has launched land‑saving, eco‑friendly burial initiatives, including sea burial of ashes, forest‑returning (tree burial), and life‑crystal interment, providing such services to more than 11,000 deceased individuals to date.
