“A heart wrapped layer upon layer, then unwrapped layer by layer; a nostalgia that unfolds again and again, reaching ever farther into the distance…” Once again, the fragrant aroma of zongzi fills the air. In recent days, the First Funeral Home of the Weifang Municipal Funeral Service Center in Shandong Province has organized a series of events titled “Deep Affection on the Dragon Boat Festival: Carrying Forward Our Culture, Welcoming the Centenary of the CPC,” aiming to promote and preserve traditional customs, enrich spiritual and cultural life, and foster a new ethos of health and civility.
On the afternoon of June 12, the staff and workers of the First Funeral Home kicked off the “Dragon Boat Festival Culture, Classic Recitation” program in the conference room. As contestants recited “Qinyuanchun: Snow” and “Li Sao,” the audience was deeply moved by the arduous journey of revolutionary pioneers who risked life and death to found the revolutionary cause during the smoke-filled years of war, as well as by the older generation of revolutionaries’ profound love for their country’s beautiful landscapes, their unwavering commitment to the revolutionary cause, and their confident belief in its ultimate victory.
The contestants expressed that they hope this event will help them deeply appreciate the enduring vitality of the Chinese nation—the source of its continuous renewal and the passing of its cultural flame from generation to generation—and gain a profound understanding that the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics are the choices of history, ensuring that the principle of “always following the Party” takes root in everyone’s heart. On June 14, all cadres and employees remained at their posts despite the holiday, gathering at the office canteen at noon to enjoy zongzi together. Traditional festivals embody the national spirit and collective sentiments of the Chinese people, carrying the cultural heritage and intellectual essence of the nation. The custom of eating zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival is linked to Qu Yuan, the great patriotic poet of ancient times, and has evolved as a commemorative practice honoring his legacy.
The First Funeral Home has strengthened emotional bonds among its staff and fostered a harmonious, festive atmosphere by organizing activities such as classical recitation and zongzi‑related cultural events. According to Director Mou Wei, the facility will continue to promote traditional culture, carry out “Our Festivals” cultural programs, and integrate these initiatives with Party history study and education, drawing deeper national spirit and the resolve to forge ahead from the Party’s century of struggle.
