Increase Speed, Strengthen Efforts! Maoming City Holds a Work Conference on Funeral Reform

To implement the spirit of instructions from the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government regarding funeral management, as well as the requirements of the 15th expanded meeting of the Municipal Government’s Party Leadership Group, the Maoming Civil Affairs Bureau convened a working meeting with member units of the Municipal Funeral Reform Leading Group on the afternoon of June 9. The meeting summarized progress in funeral reform efforts, analyzed existing problems, and discussed a special action plan to increase the city’s cremation rate, ensuring effective implementation of all work objectives. Subsequently, representatives from member units of the Municipal Funeral Reform Leading Group exchanged views on the proposed plan to raise the city’s cremation rate and offered suggestions for revisions. The meeting emphasized the importance of fully recognizing the significance of funeral reform, adopting a problem-oriented approach, and addressing shortcomings such as inadequate infrastructure. Participants were urged to align their efforts with practical realities, clearly define goals and tasks, accelerate funeral reform initiatives, and reverse the passive, lagging state of funeral management. Furthermore, they were encouraged to enhance overall coordination, leverage collaboration among members of the Municipal Funeral Reform Leading Group, pool resources, resolutely eliminate outdated burial practices, and foster a culture of civility and modernity.
